Six puzzle games, compared on things you can check

No score out of ten and no download-count leaderboard. Zephyraxil puts the fields that decide the choice in one table — who made it, what the store rating rests on, how large it is, when it was last updated — and prints the date the data was read.

What is compared, and why

Four criteria carry most of the decision. The rest of the store page is marketing.

Who made it

Studios reuse their own rules. Knowing the developer predicts how a board behaves far better than the theme or the screenshots do.

Rating with its count

An average is only as good as the number of people behind it. Both numbers are printed together, always.

Size and update date

Size decides whether it fits your phone and your data plan. The update date shows whether anyone is still maintaining it.

How it is funded

Advertising and in-app purchases are separate labels on the store. A title can carry both, one or neither, and it changes how the game feels.

The table

Read from the official Australian listings on 2026-08-13. Ratings and counts are from the App Store; the advertising label is the one shown on Google Play. Sorted by nothing in particular — this is not a ranking.

What each one is for

A paragraph per title, describing the shape of the game rather than scoring it.

Short sessions

Peak Games · rated 4+ · 476 MB · updated 2026-08-03

Tap-to-clear boards with very short levels and a team layer on top. The clearest fit for a two minute sitting, and the studio's conventions carry over to its sister title.

Short sessions

Peak Games · rated 4+ · 462 MB · updated 2026-08-10

The same studio's earlier board, close enough to Toon Blast that skills transfer directly. Useful as a second title rather than a first.

Long sessions

505 Games (US), Inc. · rated 9+ · 1023 MB · updated 2026-07-30

A match board attached to a troop and campaign system. The largest download in this table and the one that expects the longest sitting; a poor fit for short waits.

Aim and physics

King · rated 12+ · 632 MB · updated 2026-08-03

Aim-and-shoot rather than swap-and-match, so almost nothing transfers from the other titles here. Worth knowing before installing it expecting a match-3.

Obstacle boards

Dream Games · rated 12+ · 314 MB · updated 2026-08-03

Obstacle-driven boards where specials are tuned against layers rather than colours. Consistent update cadence and no advertising label on Google Play.

The reference

King · rated 12+ · 331 MB · updated 2026-08-13

The title every other board is compared against, still updated on a short cycle after more than a decade. Useful as a baseline even if you do not stay with it.

The Comparison Workbook

A PDF that turns the table on this site into a method you can run yourself on any title, including ones we do not cover. Ordered by request, paid by bank transfer off the site, delivered as a PDF by email. The guides on this site stay free either way.

Questions

Is there a single best game in this table?

No, and the table is built to avoid implying one. The useful question is which trade-off suits you: short levels against deeper systems, small download against more content, ads against purchases.

Why is there no score out of ten?

Because a single number would hide the fields that actually decide the choice. Everything printed here can be checked on the store listing; a score could not be.

How current is the data?

It was read from the Australian store listings on 2026-08-13. Ratings and update dates move constantly, so the date is printed with the table rather than hidden in a footer.

Do you take payment from any of these developers?

No. Nobody listed here has paid for inclusion, position or wording, and none of them has seen this page before publication.

Do you sell coins, gems or accounts?

No. This site has no connection to any game and no way to grant anything inside one; in-game purchases happen only through Google Play or the App Store. The only thing sold here is our own PDF workbook.

Are all of these free?

All are free to download in Australia and all offer optional in-app purchases. Whether a title also shows advertising is the last column of the table.
